Abstract of the talk: In light of the recent spike in cases related to superstitions across the state and country, the talk aims to address the reasons for following such superstitious beliefs in spite of getting educated. The need for promoting scientific temperament in society, and the efforts we, as members of the scientific community, can take to promote it, will also be discussed.
About the speaker:
Dr Vaisakhan Thampi is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Mahatma Gandhi College, Thiruvananthapuram. He obtained his PhD in material sciences from National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. In addition to several research articles, he has published three science books in Malayalam. An avid science communicator, he is a prominent figure in free-thinking forums in Kerala and runs a YouTube channel aiming to spread scientific knowledge and temper.
