About the Speaker:
Jean Paul Gaudillière is a historian of science and health, a member of the Research Centre Medicine Sciences Health Mental Health and Society (Cermes3), director of research at Inserm and director of studies at EHESS. His work has focused on the history of life sciences and biomedicine in the 20th century before tackling the history of the pharmaceutical industry from the point of view of the dynamics of knowledge production, market construction and relations with doctors. His current research concerns the processes of health globalisation, particularly since the end of the 1970s and the emergence of global health. From 2014 to 2019, he coordinated the European project From international to global: Knowledge, diseases and the post-war government of health. Prof. Gaudillière has also given a colloquium talk previously in our institute in 2019.
